  • Barbara Emery & Normandy Vesel - Instructors

    Cosmetology is a team-taught program, Barbara Emery and Normandy Vesel have a combined 50 years of experience behind the chair and 25 years in education. Carrying several licensures in many states, they have taken classes and worked with educators from around the world. Both teach and continue to practice today in their off time, Barbara and Normandy have a love for science, being creative, camping, foraging, most of all, a love for sharing their passion for industry with the next generation.  

     

    Grade level 11-12. May be taken 4 times with a grade of "C" or better to advance. $50 lab fee.‌ AM and PM sessions offered

    Cosmetology is a licensed state program through the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers Professional Licensing. The ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp will earn credit hours towards their Hairdressing License.

     

    Credits and Certifications

    Cosmetology 1- .5 PE/Health, .5 Science and .5 Elective

    Cosmetology 2- .5 Science Elective and 1.0 Elective

    Cosmetology 3- 1.5 Elective 

    12 hr. manicure license

    Hours count toward Alaska state license

     

    ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp's education begins with basic skills in sanitation, manicures, perming, pedicures, hair styling, and haircuts. Second semester students, advanced layering, hair color, waxing, and basic skincare. All hours of attendance are counted and applied toward earning a cosmetology license of 1,650 hours.
