    Why take this course?

    • Experience teamwork in all aspects of construction including reading blueprints and following technical instructions
    • Develop valuable problem solving skills applicable to carpentry and related industries
    • Build knowledge and confidence through the use of construction tools and materials

    Carpentry has an industry advisory board to keep the program relevant to industry standards. ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps will develop skills using the latest equipment, materials, and methods of the building industry, including cold weather construction practices. The students will learn to build structures, read schematic drawings and follow technical directions. ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps will develop confidence and problem solving skills through the use of tools and the manipulation of materials.
    First semester students will develop carpentry skills through the building of various structures. Second semester students will continue to refine their carpentry skills by working on more complicated projects and assuming leadership roles. Third semesters students will often be engaged in internships, on-the-job training, or other out-of-school placements.
    ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps can participate after-hours in SkillsUSA, a program that is a statewide carpentry and cabinet making competition, and can lead to a national competition.
