School Emergency Plans

  • District Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

The EOP is the district’s high-level emergency playbook. It outlines how ASD coordinates response efforts during large-scale incidents—whether that’s a natural disaster or a district-wide emergency. Required by Alaska law to be reviewed and updated annually, the EOP is maintained by the Office of Emergency Management to reflect the latest best practices, lessons learned, and evolving risks.

School Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Template

Each school uses the EAP template to build its own site-specific emergency response plan. This document provides clear, step-by-step instructions for staff to follow during emergencies to help protect students and keep everyone safe. Also required by Alaska statute to be updated annually, the EAP ensures every school is prepared, practiced, and on the same page when it matters most.

    District Closure Plan

The Closure Plan lays out how and when the district makes the call to close schools due to major disruptions—like severe weather, infrastructure issues, or other safety threats. It includes the who, what, when, and how of decision-making and communication, so families and staff know what to expect when school can’t go on as usual.
