• Freshman Academy Overview

    The Freshman Academy is set to debut with the class of 2028, offering an enriching and comprehensive experience for all freshman students during the 2024/2025 school year. This program is designed not only to ease the transition from middle school to high school but also to provide students with essential career and college readiness experiences. 
     

    Freshman Orientation & Mentorship

    The journey begins with a freshmen-only orientation program on the first day of school. This initiative, led by ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Government officers and Mentorship students, aims to immerse incoming freshmen in East High traditions and high school life. During this orientation, students will:
    • Tour the campus
    • Meet their teachers
    • Explore Clubs & Activities
    • Connect with upperclassmen Peer Mentors
    Throughout the Fall semester, student mentors will engage with the freshmen follow-up activities, ensuring a smooth transition and fostering a supportive school community.
     

    Freshman Academy Career Exploration

    The Freshman Career Exploration & Financial Literacy course is a one-semester class designed to help students:
    • Identify their interests and aptitudes
    • Develop Financial Literacy Skills
    • Consider their options for planning to reach their goals
    This course will expose students to a variety of professional opportunities through engaging guest speakers from different industries. The aim is to ignite curiosity and help students envision future career paths.
     

    College Campus Visits

    All freshmen will have the opportunity to visit a local college campus. This visit is intended to:
    • Provide exposure to academic opportunities beyond high school
    • Inspire students to consider their future educational pursuits
    By experiencing a college environment firsthand, students can better understand the possibilities that await them after high school.
     

    Career Expo

    In October, all freshmen will attend a local career expo. This event will feature professionals from over 75 different organizations, offering students the chance to:
    • Explore various industries
    • Learn about different career opportunities
    • Network with industry professionals
    This exposure will help students make informed decisions about their future pathways.
     

    Electives Selection

    In the Spring, freshmen will work with their counseling team and teachers to make elective course choices. This decision is guided by the insights and experiences gained through their participation in the Freshman Academy, ensuring that each student is well-prepared to embark on their high school journey with confidence and clarity.
