Birchwood ABC Families,

     Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  We are thrilled to have you as members of our Birchwood ABC community. Birchwood ABC is an outstanding K-5 neighborhood school with an ABC (Anchorage Basic Curriculum) offering alternative reading and math curricula within the ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp. Academic rigor, high expectations, character development, and patriotism are hallmarks of our program. BWABC uses Saxon math and Spalding for reading instruction. 

     The school year brings responsibilities for students, staff, and parents. Birchwood ABC’s unique reading and math curriculum has been highly successful, thanks in large part to strong parent involvement. Supporting nightly reading, math fact memorization, and phonogram practice at home plays a key role in student success.

     Parents are encouraged to volunteer by helping in the classroom, tutoring, chaperoning field trips, or assisting with projects. Those who work during the day can participate in evening events or activities. Parental support is vital to the success of our program. Please connect with your child’s teacher to explore ways to contribute!  

     My priority is ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. I have an open-door policy and encourage parents to visit and share their questions, success stories, or feedback. If I’m unavailable, please email me or leave a message with the front office, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. I look forward to working together to support your child’s growth.
