Attendance

  • ASD's Destination 2020 Goal

Every student will attend school at least 90 percent of the time. The school board defines what constitutes an excused absence from school as:

    • Illness
    • Death or serious illness in immediate family
    • Participating in a school function
    • Attendance at a religious service, or
    • Extenuating circumstances approved by the principal

An absence may be coded unexcused if the student demonstrates or is at risk of chronic absenteeism or is below academic proficiency.  Chronic absence is missing 10 percent or more of school for any reason.

Pre-Planned Absences and Homework Request Forms

  • For additional information about ASD’s attendance policy please visit .

If your student(s) will miss 5 days or more for a pre-planned absence, please fill out a Make-Up Work Form from the Forms section up to one week before the absence.  This may be turned in to the office or teacher.  Otherwise, if less than 5 days please notify both the teacher(s) and front office by phone or email at bvattendance@asdk12.org

Absences

  • Parents should call our front office at 742-5900 or email bvattendance@asdk12.org when their child will not be attending school or will be arriving late.   If your call/email is not received by 9 a.m. of the absence/tardy, you may receive a call and/or email by A.S.D.’s automated absence system.  Please know that we do the best we can to input all notices in a timely manner, but sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances this may not be the case.

Early Pick-Up

  • If you need to pick your child up before 2:30 p.m., please send a note with the approximate time your child will be leaving or email bvattendance@asdk12.org with the info. This gives their teacher time to prepare for your child’s early departure. Parents must come to the office to sign their child out of school, and the office staff will locate your child and call them down.
