IELTS Writing

The strategies you have practised and learnt will be needed for the successful completion of the IELTS Writing test. The Writing test is considered one of the hardest to gain a higher level score, and relies very heavily on tactics for creating successful writing styles and techniques.

Remember to follow the instructions and understand what the examiner will be looking for. Remember, on the Writing test you are graded on four things:

  • Task Achievement (Task 1) and Task Response (Task 2)
  • Coherence and cohesion
  • Lexical resource
  • Grammatical range and accuracy

The Writing test has 2 tasks, and each one is marked separately, with the second being worth more than the first. Timing is important spending too much time on the first one will lower your score. Prior to the time that you take the IELTS test, you should have spent, learnt and practised a clear system of strategies of your choice. Start right away using those tips and strategies, such as paraphrasing, Sentence types and structures, and knowing the format of the test.
